چکیده

We uncover the origin of the puzzling anti-correlation between the formation epoch of galactic dark-matter haloes and their environment density. This correlation has been revealed from cosmological N -body simulations and it is in conflict with the simple excursion-set model of halo clustering. Using similar simulations, we first quantify the straightforward association of an early formation epoch with a reduced mass growth rate at late times. We then find that the primary driver of suppressed growth, by accretion or mergers, is tidal effects dominated by a neighbouring massive halo. The tidal effects range from a slowdown of the assembly of haloes due to the shear along the large-scale filaments that feed the massive halo to actual mass loss in haloes that pass through the massive halo. Our results suggest that the dependence of formation epoch on environment density is a secondary effect induced by the enhanced density of haloes in filaments near massive haloes where the tides are strong. Our measures of assembly rate are particularly correlated with the tidal field at high redshifts z ∼ 1.

Dark Matter Halo Growth II: Diffuse Accretion and its Environmental Dependence

Dark matter haloes in ΛCDM simulations grow by mergers with other haloes as well as accretion of “diffuse” non-halo material. We quantify the mass growth rates via these two processes, Ṁmer and Ṁdif , and their respective dependence on the local halo environment using the ∼ 500, 000 haloes of mass ∼ 10 to 10M in the Millennium simulation. Adopting a local mass density parameter as a measure of ...

بررسی اثر هاله ناخالصی کانال و شیب غلظت آن در ترانزیستور اثرمیدانی نانولوله کربنی با آلایش سبک ناحیه سورس و درین با هاله خطی

In this work, a lightly doped drain and source CNTFET with a linear channel impurity halo is proposed and the effect of linear halo slope variation on ON current, ON–OFF current ratio, leakage current, power–delay product (PDP) and cutoff frequency has been investigated. Proposed linear halo lightly doped drain and source CNTFETs has been simulated using non equilibrium Green’...

The Dependence of Galaxy Type on Host Halo Mass

We examine the relation between galaxy properties and environment in the SDSS DR2, quantifying environment in terms of the mass of the host halo, which is obtained with a new iterative group finder. We find that galaxy type fractions scale strongly and smoothly with halo mass, but, at fixed mass, not with luminosity. We compare these findings with the semi-analytical galaxy formation model of C...

Assessment of the Potential of Harnessing Tidal Energy in the Khowr-e Musa Estuary in the Persian Gulf

Today, the widespread use of fossil fuels is caused many problems in the world, which include: Ozone depletion, the increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, growing recognition of climate change impacts and decreasing fossil fuel resources. These issues have led to an increased interest in the mass generation of electricity from renewable sources such tidal energy. The Khowr-e Musa Estuary, l...
